How it works

• Tap Start talking. Confirm you're 18 or older, allow your microphone, and you're in.
• Meet someone new. You're matched at random with another person from somewhere in the world, and you'll see which country they're in.
• Talk, or skip. Not clicking? Skip, and you're talking to the next person straight away. With Auto-call on, you also move on by yourself when the other person leaves.

Why voice only

Video chat with strangers puts you on camera and turns every first second into a judgement on how you look. Text chat is easy to ignore and full of bots. A voice is somewhere in between: it's personal enough to feel like a real conversation, and you can talk to strangers without showing your face. You can talk from the sofa, on a walk or in bed with the lights off.

More than a random call

• Text chat in calls. Type a link, a song name or a word that's hard to say, without leaving the call.
• Friends. If you both tap Add friend, you can see when the other is online, give them a nickname, call them and message them anytime.
• Call history. Had a great chat and skipped too fast? Your last 20 calls are kept for 30 days, and you can call any of them back.
• Ratings. After a call, quietly rate how it went: meh, good or great. The other person never finds out.
• Calls that hold. Switching from wifi to mobile data, or reloading the page, doesn't end your call. It reconnects by itself.

Kept kind

Talking to strangers online should feel relaxed, not risky. MellowTalk is for adults only, 18 and over. You can skip, block or report anyone at any moment. Blocked people never get matched with you again. Reports of serious things, like someone who seems under 18, threats or hate, are read by a real person. Yes. Completely free, with no ads and nothing to buy.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up, email or phone number. A cookie in your browser remembers your friends and call history. Clear it, and you start fresh.

Is it anonymous?

Strangers never see your name, and you never give one. But calls connect directly between devices whenever possible, which keeps the sound clear, so the other person's device can see your IP address. Don't share personal details with someone you've just met (more in the safety tips). The privacy policy lists everything that's stored, and for how long.

Is there video?

No. MellowTalk is voice chat only, on purpose.

Is this an Omegle alternative?

Omegle shut down in 2023. If you liked meeting random people there but never wanted to be on camera, MellowTalk is that idea with only the voice part: one tap to meet someone new, and one tap to move on.

Can I talk to the same person again?

Yes. Call them back from your call history, or add each other as friends to stay in touch.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Open MellowTalk in your phone's browser: Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Samsung Internet. There's nothing to download.
